Standards

The principle of profiling logs with cutters used in the New Forest Pro sawmill allows production of sawn timber in a wide range of sizes at the request of the customer (including in accordance with GOST 8486-86, GOST 26002-83, GOST 24454-80): dried, sorted and assembled in bundles.

The profiling line cuts out center and side boards from a log. This allows to produce sawn timber (in accordance with GOST 9685-61) with minimum emissions (only during drying and mechanical processing), which ensures maximum yield of marketable products when processing sawn timber.

Quality

In accordance with these standards, sawn timber is sorted into groups:

  • Premium grade and 1–4 grades for the domestic market;
  • Unsorted 1-3 grades, 4 and 5 grades for the export.

Sawn timber dimensions

Nominal sizes:

Thickness 13 – 110 mm
Width 67 – 310 mm
Length 2 700 – 6 100 mm

Drying

Sawn timber is sorted by length, width and thickness and assembled in unit packages with the following dimensions: width – 2.0 m, height - 1.6 (max 2.5) m, length - 2.7 (max 6.1) m. Between each row there are stickers with the following dimensions: 25 x 50 x 2 050 mm.

In the drying chambers, the sawn timber is dried to the specified parameters:

  • Shipping dry: 20 ± 2%;
  • Kiln dried: 10 ± 2%.

Packaging

Dry sawn timber is sorted by length, width and thickness and stacked into bundles with the following dimensions:

Length 2 700 – 6 100 mm
Height 1 200 (max 1 350) mm
Width 1 200 (max 1 350) mm

Each bundle is divided into 3 or 4 parts (depending on sawn timber thickness) by slats with dimensions of 10 x 50 x 700 - 1200 mm. The bundles are wrapped in a waterproof film, tied with polyester tape and marked in accordance with GOST 19041-85.

Spruce sawn timber advantages

  • Weak thermal conductivity;
  • Unique pattern due to the many small captive knots;
  • Homogeneous texture;
  • Average resin content and decay resistance;
  • Softness and ductility, easy at wood processing;
  • Ideal for the construction of structures without significant structural load, as well as for the production of musical instruments.

Larch sawn timber advantages

  • Durability (not inferior to oak) which only increases with time;
  • Resistance to decay, salt and fresh water;
  • Low thermal conductivity;
  • 12 color shades;
  • Fire resistance is two times higher than that of pine.
